macOS

Version 0.2.0 · macOS 13 or later

Choose Apple Silicon for M-series Macs. Open the DMG and drag OvertChat to Applications. Developer ID signed and notarized.

How to install on macOS
  1. Open the downloaded DMG and drag OvertChat to Applications.
  2. Launch OvertChat from Applications, enter your server address, and sign in.
  3. If macOS asks about OvertChat Safe Storage, choose Always Allow to keep your sign-in across launches.

Allow microphone access when using voice. Use Change Server in the app menu to connect to another server.

Linux

Version 0.2.0 · x64

Use the .deb on Ubuntu or Debian, or the .rpm on Fedora. AppImage requires working user namespaces; use the .deb on Ubuntu 24.04.

How to install on Linux

Open a terminal in the folder containing your download. Run the command for your package:

Ubuntu / Debian

sudo apt install ./overtchat-0.2.0-linux-x64.deb

Fedora

sudo dnf install ./overtchat-0.2.0-linux-x64.rpm

AppImage

chmod +x overtchat-linux-x64.AppImage
./overtchat-linux-x64.AppImage

For .deb and .rpm installs, open OvertChat from your application menu. Enter your server address and sign in.

Saved sign-in requires GNOME Secret Service or KDE Wallet. If AppImage cannot start, use your distribution’s package above.
